Brad Peyton – How Flaws Have Helped his Filmmaking

2005, Art & Design
Presented By: Brad Peyton

Filmmaker Brad Peyton discusses how his isolation and flaws have helped his filmmaking. Flaws define character in reality and fiction, Brad says. It is by using flaws as a “study point”, by accepting and embracing them, that he brings together his films. Brad compares live-action films and animation and talks about the capacity of each to explore character. He talks about the raw, human quality of animation and argues that instead of being boundaries, flaws can be catalysts for emotional exploration.
