Richard Greenblatt

Richard Greenblat

Greenblatt, a writer, actor and director for theatre and an actor for film and television, trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London.

He is a co-creator of the runaway hit, 2 Pianos 4 Hands, along with Ted Dykstra. It is a tale of two men and their love/hate relationship with the piano, from lessons and awful teachers as children, to auditions for upper-echelon schools. 2 Pianos 4 Hands opened in 1996, and has since opened in more than 100 cities around the world. For this work, Greenblatt earned both the Dora Mavor Moore Award and the Chalmers Award.

Not one to rest on his laurels, Greenblatt has several projects on the go, including a piece on the works of Lehrer, a co-creation with Diane Flacks (for whom he worked with on Sibs at the Tarragon Theatre in 2000) called Care, and a new adaptation of Brecht’s The Caucasian Chalk Circle, all of which are set to open between the summers of 2005 and 2007.
