Ken Danby

Ken Danby is a contemporary realist painter whose outstanding timeless images have earned him international recognition as one of the world’s foremost artists. Danby found his niche in Guelph, Ontario, painting his surroundings and the things he loves most – his wife, horses, and hockey icons.

His work has been the subject of many books, including Danby: Images of Sport by Hubert de Santana, and Ken Danby: The New Decade, by Paul Duval.

Many public institutions hold Danby originals in their collections, including the Museum of Modern Art and the Brooklyn Museum in New York, The National Gallery of Canada, The Art Institute of Chicago, The Montreal Museum of Fine Art, The City of Jerusalem, and the Bradford City Art Gallery in England.

Danby is an elected member of the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts. He has received the Jessie Dow Prize, the 125th Anniversary Commemorative Medal of Canada, both the Queen’s Silver and Golden Jubilee Medals, and has recently been awarded with The Order of Ontario and the Order of Canada.
