David Irvine-Halliday – Lighting Up The World

David Irvine-Halliday runs the Global Humanitarian organization Light Up the World which works to convert kerosene-powered lighting systems into electric systems. Though light is taken for granted in industrialized nations, 2 billion people worldwide are living off the power grid, a fact that hinders public services including health care and education. David’s intention is not to create a dependency on a profitable product, instead it is to empower communities worldwide to develop self-sufficient electric-lighting and all the changes that come with it.
