Terry Mosher on How a Cartoonist Might Change Things

2003, Cultural Studies
Presented By: Terry Mosher

Political cartoonist Terry Mosher talks about how cartoons change our world. Cartoons ask us to laugh at ourselves, Terry says, and as a society it is imperative that our pride not take over, that we are always able to question our own actions and, unemotionally, notice our missteps and mistakes. Terry argues that cartoons are a measure of a society’s condition, of its health and reason. He lets us in on the workings of the political cartooning community and suggests the fine line between funny and offensive is a tricky one to navigate.
