As the world’s only publicly traded person Mike Merrill has, since 2008, had every important aspect of his life, even his love life, controlled by his shareholders, who include friends, co-workers, ex-lovers, girlfriends, and total strangers. Here he details his strange life in which others hold his fate in their hands. He learned that he could actually trust his shareholders to control his personal life, including mandating a career change. In fact, rather than chafe under this regime, he’s grown to rely on the feedback loop his puppeteers give him. To his critics, he says, “If it’s a stunt, it’s at least a longterm stunt!”
