Franz Harary Explains Magic

2006, Entertainment
Presented By: Franz Harary

Magician Franz Harary explains to the audience how magic works and why our minds are so accepting of physical, optical and psychological illusions. Magic is anything that is scientifically impossible at the time of performance, he says. But there are mind tricks magicians use to convince onlookers. Contrary to common sense, it is a loss of wonder that makes one susceptible to magician trickery. As the act unfolds, the viewer, in trying to make sense of it, fills in gaps of reality with unconscious, nonsensical reasoning. Sound a little wacky? Franz explains it much better. He goes on to discuss the synchronicity of mind and body, the power of belief and the boundless universe of which we know so very little.
