William Tsiaras

William Tsiaras is Professor and Chairman of the Department of Ophthalmology at Brown University School of Medicine. He is also the Surgeon-in-Chief of Ophthalmology at Rhode Island Hospital and the Veterans Administration Hospital in Providence, RI, is board-certified in Internal Medicine and Ophthalmology, and for the American Academy of Opthalmology’s Section on Internal Medicine. The recipient of the American Academy of Opthalmology Achievement Award, he has been twice selected to “Best Doctors in America.”

Tsiaras is the author and co-author of numerous papers and book chapters in scientific publications. His research interests have been in the area of gene therapy in the treatment of Retinitis Pigmentosa. He was involved in the design of a device that is presently in Phase II trials in the treatment of the disease.
