Robert Lantos

Robert Lantos is an internationally recognized, award-winning producer and a champion of Canadian content and the Canadian entertainment industry. “We have come a long way in 20 years,” he recently told Take One. “Proof of our progress can be found in the highest temples of cinema such as the Cannes Film Festival where our films have – as of late – been regularly invited and honoured with awards.”

Among the most recent productions are Istvan Szabo’s Sunshine, Atom Egoyan’s Felicia’s Journey and The Sweet Hereafter, David Cronenberg’s eXistenZ and Crash, and Deny Arcand’s 15 Moments. Together these films have earned two Academy Award nominations and the Grand Prix, the Special Jury Prize and the International Critics Prize at the Cannes Film Festival, along with four Best Picture Genie Awards and four Golden Reel Awards in Canada.

On television, his series – including Power PlayDue SouthNorth of 60 and ENG – have won the Banff International Television Award for Best Drama Series and 10 Gemini Awards for best drama series.

Until September 21, 1998, Mr. Lantos was Chairman, CEO and controlling shareholder of Alliance Communications Corporation. On that date, he merged Alliance with Atlantis Communications to form Alliance Atlantis Communications Inc., of which he is Chairman Emeritus. Upon the merger, Mr. Lantos relinquished all corporate responsibility and formed Serendipity Point Films in order to fully focus on the creative arena.
