Peter Lansdorp

Peter Lansdorp studies the role of telomeres – chromosomes ends – in cells in relation to aging and cancer. The techniques he has developed to measure the length of telomeric DNA repeat sequences are now being used increasingly throughout the world in one of the hottest areas of biology research: the role of telomeres in cellular immortality.

The author of numerous papers, reviews and book chapters, Dr. Lansdorp speaks regularly at international scientific meetings. He chairs a panel that review grant applications to the National Cancer Institute for Canada, and has been at the Terry Fox Laboratory at the B.C. Cancer Agency since 1985.

Dr. Lansdorp is a professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of British Columbia.
