Mary Lou Fallis

Mary Lou Fallis

Mary Lou Fallis is a Canadian opera singer and musical comedienne, who has been called “the funniest soprano in the world” by Canadian Living magazine. She is best known for her series of award-winning one-woman shows offering a satirical look at life as an opera diva, in which she plays her recurring character Primadonna. The concept also morphed into a CBC radio show entitled Diva Diaries.

Fallis earned a degree in Performance and Literature from The Faculty of Music at the University of Toronto, and has performed oratorios and choral works with numerous leading orchestras. As an opera singer she has played such roles as Despina in Cosi fan Tutte and Zerbinetta in Ariadne auf Naxos. She has also toured the UK extensively, performing in London’s west end and at the Edinburgh International Festival. Fallis was the music producer and a judge on the 6-part reality TV series Bathroom Divas: So You Want to Be an Opera Star?
