Mark Siddall

Mark Siddall is Curator and Professor at the American Museum of Natural History where he leads an international research program studying … yes … leeches.  Mark is curator of the Hall of Ocean Life at the American Museum of Natural History, featuring the iconic Blue Whale and “The Squid and The Whale” diorama.

Siddall is a peripatetic purveyor of all things parasitological, a self-styled Expeditionary Gastronomist whose approach to cooking is best described as polyethnic feral gourmet informed both by invention and privation in the field.

A prolific author, Siddall hasn’t a book to his name. He’s published over a hundred scientific articles in leading journals concerning such topics as malaria, Giardia, tuberculosis, oyster diseases, HIV, snakes, turtles, birds, paleontology, evolutionary and statistical theory, and even the philosophy of science.

Mark is probably best known publically for popping up on National Geographic, Discovery, Animal Planet, PBS and NPR … and for proving that T. rex is alive and well feeding on children in the Amazon.
