Marika Bournaki

Marika Bournaki

Pianist Marika Bournaki is quickly emerging as an exciting young artist with an extraordinarily engaging musicianship. The spirit of her performances has been said to be comparable to that of the great Glenn Gould.

By the age of 12, she had already appeared at Carnegie Hall, and performed with l’Orchestre Métropolitain and the Montreal Symphony Orchestra. In 2002, Marika was honoured with the first prize at the Pro-Piano Romania International Competition in Bucharest, as well as the Mihail Jora prize from the Romanian Association of Music Critics. In the last year, Marika’s association with the Glenn Gould Foundation culminated in a sold-out, fund-raising recital at Carnegie’s Recital Hall in New York. She has also attended the Aspen Music Festival, the International Summer Academy in Salzburg and will return to the Verbier Festival Academy later this summer.
