Lola Rasminksy

Rasminsky, the founder and director of Toronto’s Avenue Road Arts School, is an advocate for arts education in young children and adults. Seven years ago, she founded Arts for Children of Toronto, a charitable organization committed to providing positive experiences in the arts to children, regardless of financial circumstances. In 1999, Rasminsky launched Beyond the Box, a training program that introduces corporate groups to artists’ strategies for creative thinking and problem solving. Her clients include The Rotman School of Management Studies, Bell Canada and Alliance Atlantis.

Rasminsky, who holds a Masters degree in Philosophy from the University of Toronto, is receiving increasing recognition for her work at Avenue Road School. As The Toronto Star noted, “Rasminsky’s school has turned into one of the few happy stories to be found over the past decade in the increasingly troubled and deconstructed education world in this city… it would be wonderful if the entire Ontario school system could tap into what Lola Rasminsky has delivered to a lucky minority.”
