One of the only places that Nobel Peace Prize recipient Bishop Tutu and Sinn Fein leader Gerry Adams are ever likely to meet is on the reporting resumé of Kevin Newman.

Mr. Newman has interviewed many other prominent international figures in his role as a correspondent for Nightline and World News Tonight for ABC News. (Because of the legion Canucks at that network, some joke that the call letters stand for “America by Canadians.”) He also anchored ABC New Special Reports on Princess Diana’s death and the Atlanta Olympic bombing.

He has reported from such diverse locations as Washington, D.C.; London, U.K.; Israel, Germany and Poland. Previously, he was an anchor on some of the most high-profile programs in North America, Good Morning America and World News This Morning. “The first time you see your face on the side of a New York City bus, it’s a huge kick,” Mr. Newman once told Maclean’s.

Prior to joining ABC News, Mr. Newman spent six years with CBC, two of them as the anchor of Midday, the CBC’s daily, hour-long news and interview program. He was also the substitute anchor for Prime Time and The National, the CBC’s two major evening news broadcasts, from 1992 until joining ABC News.
