John Ince

John Ince

“It is his mission in life to broaden our erotic repertoire”, says The Ottawa Citizen of John Ince, one of the few lawyers in North America focusing on sexual issues, who is an advocate for a more sexually ‘healthy’ culture.

Ince is particularly well known for his victorious 1985 court battle against Canada Customs (which resulted in the most sweeping changes of sex media law in a generation). The co-founder of The Art of Loving (an erotic arts centre in Vancouver), Ince also garnered international media attention recently for Public Sex, Art, and Democracy, a controversial erotic arts production, which featured a live sex act accompanying an art opening.

Ince is also the author of The Politics of Lust and two books on environmental law.
