Hani Rashid

What does the 21st century look like? As a practicing architect in New York City, Hani Rashid has his own ideas. He and partner Lise-Anne Couture founded Asymptote Architecture in 1989 and have designed both business and virtual environments for the new millennium.

The company’s repertoire of works range from experimental installations, computer generated environments, building designs and urban planning. Rashid and Couture’s recent work includes a large-scale computer generated environment for the New York Stock Exchange and an accompanying “Theatre of Operations” presently under construction on the floor of the Exchange.  They also designed the Guggenheim Virtual Museum, a fully interactive multidimensional Web-based architecture.

Rashid received a Master of Architecture degree from Cranbrook Academy of Art in 1985 and has taught architectural design at Harvard, the Stadelshule in Frankfurt, and the Royal Danish Academy in Copenhagen.
