Bob Young

As the chair and co-founder of the Center for the Public Domain, Young wants to raise public awareness of the need for information to be freely and openly accessible in order to spur future innovation.

The Center, which was established as a non-profit foundation in January 2000, sets up grants, programs and partnerships in the areas of academic research, medicine, law, education, media, technology and the arts. Under Young’s leadership, the Center also promotes collaboration that strengthens shared information, culture and ideas for creators and innovators.

Young is also co-founder and chair of Red Hat, Inc., a North Carolina-based company that drives the global, industry-wide adoption of open source internet infrastructure solutions. Before founding the Center and Red Hat, he worked in computer finance and marketing as the head of two computer leasing companies.
