Arthur Kent

Arthur Kent is a Canadian television journalist, author and documentary filmmaker. The former foreign correspondent and host of Dateline NBC established his international reputation during the 1991 Persian Gulf War, when he became known by the nickname “The Scud Stud”.

After a dispute with NBC that ended in his dismissal from the network, Kent sued NBC and wrote a book called Risk and Redemption: Surviving the Network News Wars. He later became host of CBC’s Man Alive, and has worked for the BBC, CTV, The Observer and Maclean’s. He won Emmys for his coverage of the bloodshed in Tiananmen Square and the war in Bosnia.

Kent’s documentary Afghanistan: Captives of the Warlords, which documented life in Afghanistan under Taliban rule, was broadcast just months for the September 11 attacks and won him several awards. In 2007, Kent launched Sky Reporter, an outlet for short films and documentaries that features his reportage from Afghanistan, Iraq and other areas of conflict.
