Prior to becoming editor, Anthony Wilson-Smith was an editor-at-large with Maclean’s and wrote a weekly a national affairs column.

Since joining the magazine in 1983 as Quebec editor, Wilson-Smith has reported from more than 30 countries worldwide, ranging from Afghanistan to Indonesia to Haiti. He served as the magazine’s first Moscow bureau chief from 1987-1990, and Ottawa editor from 1990-1997.

A frequent guest commentator on radio and television on social and political issues, Wilson-Smith has appeared on services ranging from Britain’s BBC and ITN to C-SPAN and ABC-TV in the United States, Moskovskoye Novosti in Russia, and CBC, CTV, Radio Canada, Tele-Quebec and the Global Television Network at home.

Along with Edward Greenspon of The Globe and Mail, Wilson-Smith is the co-author of the 1996 bestsellerDouble Vision: The Inside Story of the Liberals in Power, which won the Purvis Award from Queen’s University for excellence in economic writing.

Prior to Maclean’s Wilson-Smith worked as a political reporter and editor for The Gazette in Montreal and Quebec City.
