Andrew Watson

After travelling around the world for nearly 10 years as an acrobat, Andrew Watson was looking for something different when he joined the Cirque du Soleil show “We Reinvent the Circus” in 1987.

Fourteen years later, he is now the artistic director of the Montreal-based Cirque du Soleil, the cultural organization that has revolutionized the circus arts. He previously served as their Director of Casting and Training and Artistic Coordinator, and was also the Artistic Director of the touring shows Saltimbanco, Alegría and Quidam.

He left Cirque du Soleil briefly in 1999 to work as the creative training and aerial director for the New Millenium Dome Central Show in London. After finishing his work overseas, he returned to Canada and became Director of Creation for Cirque du Soleil’s new show to be launched in Montreal in the spring of 2002. He is uniquely qualified in aerial, acrobatic and circus-arts performance.
