Session 5 – Vision Geeks

20/06/2013

And we’re off again. Everyone arrived bright and early with open minds for todays sessions. Our first session to kick off the day started with the deep topic of quantum computing and parallel universes with Dr. Geordie Rose. Geordie feels as though we are able to build machines that are like us, in fact, he already has two computers that have a heart beat like sound. Currently, Geordie has 3 predictions that he would like to see happen:

  1. In 5 years NASA will find an earth like planet with water and resources, and discuss how to get there
  2. By 2023 someone will find a way to experiment with the reality of parallel universe
  3. Humanity is on the cusp of the most important technological and societal revolution that’s ever happened: the machines would outpace is in every aspect.

Although many predictions don’t come true, Geordie is hopeful that his will become a reality.

Next up this morning we heard from Daniel Friedmann via Skype and his ideas on science and religion. He spoke about how close the Torah and nature mirror each other timeline wise with the creation of humanity and left it up to the audience to decide: was it nature running its course on creating humans or was it a god?

Things then got a bit spooky during Paul Davids talk on his life after death project. Paul believes that he has experienced After Death Communication – ADC from a close friend who has passed away. Although a lot of ADC has been debunked by science, Paul wowed us with some proof.

The session came to a wrap with Yiddish singer Anthony Russell, who impressed the audience with his operatic bass and even had the audience join in. That concluded the morning session, and up next is 3D printing in session 6.
