Could Canada become a hub for commercial space launches? Government officials announced in January that the feds will develop the regulatory requirements, safety standards and licensing terms necessary to allow commercial satellite space launches from Canada within the next three years. Canada’s first astronaut, MP Marc Garneau was in Montreal for the press conference, citing our country’s vast, sparsely populated areas as a selling point. He has had a unique view of that vastness. In this Talk, delivered at ideacity in 2002, Marc described the euphoric and sublime experience he had orbiting the earth.
