Scott Larson on new vistas of Earth from space

2013, Space
Presented By: Scott Larson

Scott Larson is revolutionizing the Earth observation industry with his organization, UrtheCast, which is building, launching and operating the world’s first ever high-definition video feed of Earth, streamed from the International Space Station.  UrtheCast’s HD (at one metre resolution), adjustable cameras will help to redefine what’s possible to see from space, with useful implications for forestry, urban planning and agriculture. Installation is planned for late fall 2013 and the platform goes live on the Internet in 2014. Watch this video to find out what sorts of fun you’ll be able to have combining UrtheCast’s near-live videos and images of Earth with social media and crowdsourcing.
