Victor Quijada of RUBBERBANDance performs

2013, Entertainment

Son of Mexican immigrants in Los Angeles, choreographer and dancer Victor Quijada went from hip-hop dance on the streets to the ballet studio, and on to performance art, post-modern dance, New York City’s fabled Twyla Tharp, Les Grands Ballets Canadiens, and finally, to founding his own company, RUBBERBANDance Group in Montreal.  He is recognized as “a magnetic and expansive dancer,” and in this talk he speaks briefly about his trajectory from the street to the world stage and then performs with dark intensity.
