A Realist’s View on the Shift to Renewable Energy

Renewable energy is a term that is on the lips of many these days, and for good reason. Though scientific advancements and shifting social perceptions have certainly helped, Vaclav Smil‘s latest writings indicate that some eco-advocates could be jumping the gun.

Although technology has certainly grown more sophisticated, Smil maintains that a monumental shift to green and renewable energy sources can’t happen overnight. Read on to learn why the respected University of Manitoba thinker says we may have to wait longer than we’d like for access to new energy sources, and why he believes certain policies could hasten their ascent.
