Alan Hirsch, MD, is a neurologist and psychiatrist who specializes in the treatment of smell and taste loss. As Neurological Director of the Smell and Taste Research and Treatment Foundation in Chicago, Dr. Hirsch conducts in-depth studies observing the effect that certain scents or aromas have on behaviour, emotion, mood, and interactions between people.

An inventor and investigative researcher, he has presented his findings in over 100 articles, and in prominent appearances on Good Morning America, Oprah and CNN. Hirsch has been featured in the New York Times, Cosmopolitan, Redbook, Entrepreneur and hundreds of newspaper and radio interviews.

He is the author of many books, including Scentsational Weight Loss, Scentsational Sex, and What Flavor is Your Personality.

Hirsch is a member of, among others, the American Academy of Pain Medicine and the Association of Chemoreception Sciences, and has sat on the Advisory Boards for such associations as the National Academy of Sports Medicine and the Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Society of Illinios.
